Dark, blurry smartphone photo of an interior — the snapshot documentation that undersells finished design projects

Your design deserves more than a snapshot

You've spent months — sometimes years — perfecting every detail of a space. The materials, the lighting, the proportions. Then the project gets documented with a contractor's iPhone shots or a rushed listing-style shoot, and none of that craft survives the photo.

Prospective clients judge you by your portfolio, and publications judge you by your images. Standard real estate photography can't do justice to that level of craft — it documents a room; it doesn't make anyone feel the space.

Modern interior captured in natural light — editorial design photography built to publication standards

Styled editorial shoots, built to publication standards

Our editorial photography is an art-driven, collaborative process: we pre-scout the location, track the sun's position to shoot each room at its most flattering moment, and compose every frame with you — a live camera feed on a tablet lets you approve each shot on the spot.

In post, each image is manually blended from multiple exposures and retouched — no automated HDR — so the final photographs meet the standards of architectural magazines, design publications, award submissions, and luxury portfolios.

Interior design details of a modern eco house — the styled moment worth capturing before the install window closes

The install window is short — and your feed is always hungry

A finished project only looks finished for a moment. The styling is in place, the client hasn't moved their own things in yet, and staged furniture may be days from leaving. Miss that window and the portfolio images are gone for good.

Meanwhile, your website, your Instagram, and your publication pitches all need a steady stream of imagery — and one hero shot per project doesn't feed them for long.

Contemporary eco house interior with clean lines and warm materials — full editorial coverage from one shoot

One shoot, a full content library — scheduled around your install

We plan the session with you from the first consultation, timing the shoot to your install and staging schedule so the space is captured at its styled best. One session yields hero shots, vertical compositions, and design details — plus a social media reel if you want moving content for your feed. See à-la-carte pricing.

And if a room has to be photographed after the staging leaves, virtual staging can digitally furnish the empty space.

Interior Designer & Architect FAQ

What design professionals ask us most.

What does editorial photography cost for designers and architects?
Editorial photography is billed at $249/hr, and every project is bespoke — pick exactly what you need or request a tailored quote. Popular add-ons for design portfolios: a social media reel ($149), twilight photography ($199), a Matterport 3D tour (from $199), and drone photo + video ($299). See the full à-la-carte price list. Every engagement begins with a free consultation.
How long does an editorial shoot take?
A half-day session (10 photos) takes approximately 4 hours on location; a full-day session (15 photos) takes about 7 hours. This includes careful composition, lighting adjustments, and real-time client collaboration for each frame.
Can I review and approve shots during the shoot?
Absolutely. We provide a live feed from the photographer's camera to a tablet so you can review test shots in real time. Lighting, composition, and styling are confirmed before we capture the final frame — we don't move on until you're satisfied.
Can you schedule the shoot around our install and staging window?
Yes. Planning starts at the consultation: we map the shoot to your install schedule so the space is photographed at its styled best, and pre-scouting lets us pick the time of day when each room looks its most flattering. Style the space as you want it to appear — we provide specific preparation recommendations during pre-scouting.
When will I receive the final images?
Expect 10 business days for a half-day session (10 photos) and 15 business days for a full-day session (15 photos). Each image goes through manual HDR blending and detailed retouching, and two rounds of revisions per photo are included.
What areas do you serve?
The entire DMV region: Washington DC, Northern Virginia (Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, McLean, Reston, Tysons), and Maryland (Bethesda, Silver Spring, Rockville, Chevy Chase, Potomac). We also take on projects outside the DMV — contact us to discuss.
